world of wonders – soul of place

what is a place of wonder? why are some places full of wonder. what makes a place wonder full?

treasure cave - cliffs of taktsang monastery, bhutan

which is more full of wonder – the creations of humanity or natural wonders? how would you choose only seven?

how do some places capture the essence of a culture,  an era, a civilization, an empire?

do places of wonder hold the power of the dreams, the collective spirit of a people?

where are the energy lines, the intersections of spiritual resonance, epicenters of power?

  1. Nice meditation, Dawn. It’s interesting for me, seeing these contemplations and realizing, over time — rather, stretching the string back in time for my personal evocations and explorations, that idea of the magical – mystically inclined – treasure place. That might range from getting into the area behind the altar, where no one is really supposed to be, under the grating, to the roadside marvels of “Trees of Mystery.” I savor your examinations. Delightful, the alignment…

Mystery, for me, here: http://www.girvin.com/blog/?p=2767, in the thinking about the concept of something “contained within”, something unreachable…hidden, a sense of risk, in discovery.

  2. Stunning reflections of places of wonder. Human traces of spirit…

    • energy imprints? do we leave them behind? do they mix with others that came before, and after – resonance? magic in the intersection of those traces. grateful xdac

  3. It is a kind of filigree, the grace fullness of the scribing of touch in spirit left. Picking something up, it always seems like I think something, when I touch — and in a way, that synesthetic wonder, that moment, reminds me that I might be doing just that — finding the signature of the thing. Drawing, you do that, trace your own spirit in the nature of the place, that paper, that causes that character to be released: spirit / mind / shoulder / arm / hand / fingers / fingertips / pencil and finally — the stock of the surface itself. Another tracery. http://www.girvin.com/blog/?p=3018
