ecstatic architecture – spain.4
the spirit of celebration is embedded in the architecture
in the richness of colors, textures and curving forms
the intricate details of carved wood, cut tile, plaster stalactites
from the spirit of the people – the flamenco moves
children parading in costume, ascending angels
dreamscapes of vibrant hues and waves of structure
from gaudi in barcelona
to the alhambra in granada
the ecstasy of being alive
into the essence of architecture

The concept of ecstasy is a wondrous condition — in relationship to experience. In some of the examples that you show, the idea of the ecstatic almost gestures to a kind of delirium, an exuberance of line, complexity and flow that comes straight from an inspired mind that is captivated by the love of doing the work that can meaningfully infiltrate the qualities of sentience in the astonishing and organic quality of experienced design — places that reel in the magic of place, and magic made. Thanks for the share, Dawn A. Clark. Sweet, these captures. Tim

it is both the experience of the place created, and the imagined state of the creator – the levels of detail, the intricacy of the work, the state of what must have been trance-like in both vision and action – it’s ecstasy in all ways. grateful for your thoughts, and sharing, x++d
